Rowdies prepare for opener against Wolfsburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rowdies have invited 19 trialists, including former University of South Florida star Marcus Epps, for training in preparation for their Florida Cup opener against VfL Wolfsburg at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at Al Lang Stadium.

Epps, a midfielder-forward, has also been named to participate in the MLS Combine next week.

The Florida Cup will kick off with Bayer Leverkusen meeting Estudiantes de la Plata in the first game of a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Sunday at Al Lang Stadium.

Other teams in the tournament include Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro and São Paulo FC, River Plate (Argentina) and Millonarios FC (Colombia.)
