Alston, Carrasco, Hines returning to Orlando City SC
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando City SC has signed defender Kevin Alston, midfielder Servando Carrasco and defender Seb Hines, the team announced Friday.
Alston, a free agent, signed a one-year contract, Carrasco has signed a two-year deal and Hines a three-year pact.
“Servando, Kevin and Seb proved to be important assets for our team last year and we are excited to keep them,” Orlando City general manager Niki Budalic said.
Alston, 28, who played for the New England Revolution from 2009-15, made his Lions debut against the Revolution April 17 and earned 20 of his 21 starts in the Lions’ final 23 matches of the season. Alston earned 2013 MLS WORKS Comeback Player of the Year after returning from chronic myelogenous leukemia, and was awarded the Club’s Community Award for his contributions to the community and inspiring youth with charitable appearances in last year.
Carrasco, 28, a defensive midfielder, has played 43 games (31 starts), totaling four assists, for Orlando City in the last two seasons and earned the team’s coaches’ award last year.
Hines, 28, is third all-time with 49 MLS appearances (44 starts), and is the highest scoring defender with four goals in two Orlando City seasons. Hines, a Wetherby, England, native, played for Middlesbrough in the English Championship and made six appearances for English youth national teams.
